Summer Ending…

Summer Shoes © by Klearchos Kapoutsis

Summer always seems to end too soon. I always wish I could make it last seven months and have winter only last two. Wishful thinking I know, but heading to warmer temperatures during September and October does help me out as I attempt to squeeze every last drop out of the delicious summer sunshine.

This photo just reminds me of Spring. Maybe it’s because these pansies are the same colors as the crocus that first show at the beginning of Spring. Or, maybe it’s because the orangey yellow flower in the middle of all the purple reminds me to have hope that the warmer weather is coming soon.

March On…

Ahh March. I want to like you, but honestly, I’m usually just holding my breath until we get to April, or even May, or even June. Plus, you’re a bit of a tease. But then again, who am I to talk? But really, I am simply not cut out for cold weather, especially when little glimpses of Spring are dangling in front of me. You’re simply just too cold for me. So, I’ll wear green on the 17th and smile, but I’ve already made it through frigid January and February, so really I just want you to be over asap. The end.

There’s nothing like the change from winter to spring. Each year, I crave it more and more. As the weather warms up, so do the colors – both in weather and fashion. This spring, shades like aqua, orange and corals will rule the street. Try pairing a chic orange vest with white jeans (a staple for the upcoming season), or a pair of cute wedges (another spring staple) with an aqua mini. Bold prints are sure to be popular as well, as 70′s inspired fashions make a comeback.

I’m already “over” this winter weather. I’m frozen! January and February seem to drag. What can I say? I’m a spring and summer kind of girl. I am excited about Valentine’s Day though. My favorite holiday. It’s the only thing getting me through the last couple months of frigid weather. :)

Dicken's Village at Night
Creative Commons License photo credit: kevindooley These little Christmas villages are precious. My mother collected these as I grew up and added to it each year. Now we have a miniature Christmas world sprawling underneath our living room tree each year. The grand kids will sit down with their hands in their chins and look at it for hours. Ok, well maybe minutes. :)

Reasons to Get Junior Plus Size Clothes

The reason for the existence of junior plus size clothing is quite obvious. These are designed for bigger than average sized children who do not fit into normal size clothes. There are a growing number of children who are like this. Interestingly, there are a large number of adults like this too. The reason is mainly that they tend to look better in clothes designed for young people.

Most people are shocked to discover that there are many adults who are able to carry off the youngest sizes, but when you think about their reasons, they turn out to be not so surprising. Despite the fact that these are meant for younger people, you can get more juniors sizes that are large enough for most adults. The only thing that you should keep in mind is that these clothes will fit lower on the hips and chest area.

In fact, this is why they are smaller at the hips and bust, because the adults prefer to wear the plus size junior clothing. It is common among manufacturers of plus size club wear to make them loosely mounted. The result of this type of clothing for women is not to achieve a really attractive appearance. In most cases you can get a better fit and a more flattering look, when you go in for junior sizes. It is unclear why the manufacturers of plus-size clothing make clothes that are so freely mounted. Most fashion experts suggest that women really should wear tighter clothes, because it makes them look as if they have a figure.

Not only do these clothes tend to fit better, but they also tend to be more elegant. Regular-sized clothes rarely follow the latest trends in fashion and it seems that most of the clothes are meant for old ladies. Junior plus-size clothing is designed for use by young people who usually stay in touch with the latest fashion trends.

The only thing that plus size has more in common with a regular size, is they are not easy to find. Most stores only carry a limited selection. To go around this problem most people buy them online. This creates a bit of a problem because you cannot try these clothes at first. It can be really problematic if you are an adult and are looking to buy junior plus size clothes. You should be able to figure out the size you need. Make sure before buying that you can return the goods they do not fit.

Shopping For Plus Size Formal Dresses

Do you have a great event planned and you do not have what you need to wear. Do not despair! The choice of evening wear in plus sizes has never been greater with the growing number of specialty retailers targeting women who are full figured. If you need a bridesmaid dress, ball gown or a complete set of wedding dresses you can find a lot of options. Before you go to your local mall, you’ll need some guidelines to buy dresses in plus sizes.

Many special events dresses are made by special order only. This means that you will be measured for your dress, and the store will place an order with the manufacturer. Typically, the retailer will request a deposit of up to 50 percent, and the rest for when you get the dress.

Although for some special requests, evening dresses in plus sizes can be ordered and received in less than a month, you can expect a wedding dress for the bride or take six months for delivery. It is therefore essential to plan ahead.

If you do not have time, there are many options to buy dresses off the rack. The stores that cater to women will have different styles of generosity. You can also try searching online retailers, and many people who specialize in size clothing. If you are looking for a specific kind of dress, consider browsing the racks of vintage clothing shops or consult with a dressmaker who can get you designer plus size clothing.

As you sift through the options of clothing, keep in mind the three C’s in the choice of dresses – cut, color and comfort. First, find a style that is flattering to your body type.

Next, consider the color. Maybe you need to get the color scheme right for a wedding party. If you have a free hand to choose the color you want, you can choose a dark color, which will give the illusions of a slimmer body.

Finally, comfort is extremely important because you will probably spend several hours wearing the dress. Try a dress and wear appropriate clothing and see how they fit and feel. If you have to drag strips, or suck in your stomach, you probably have chosen the wrong size and style.

So go ahead and look forward to the occasion. With a little planning, you can have a look that is perfect, giving you confidence at any event.

Are There Really Cool Fanny Packs?

» Filed under Fashion | Leave a comment

Handbags in York © by l.bailey_beverley
If you hear someone mention cool fanny packs it won’t be surprising if your first reaction is to laugh or assume it is some kind of a bad joke. The original fanny packs which came out in the 1980s were not exactly long-lasting fashions, at least not if you want to be seen as stylish and fashionable. This does not change the fact that fanny packs were originally made because they are potentially a very useful product.

Because of this, it should come as no surprise that there are many newer forms of the fanny pack being designed today. Designs look far different from the dorky or old lady look associated with fanny packs today. In fact, many of them are referred to by different names and have even of all to sit on a different part of the body such as hip bags or belt waist bags.

If you want any evidence that various designs related to the fanny pack are coming back in style then look no further than runway models and recent fashion shows. Many recent fashion shows even by top-notch designers have been displaying fanny packs or what they even call hip fanny packs because the accessory sits on the hip and not the back. Believe it or not, even classic designers such as Louis Vuitton are getting into the act and beginning to create their own line of designer fanny packs.

These accessories are meant to look fashionable, act as a useful accessory, and these often fit on the hip as opposed to on the rear. This style is definitely catching on as you can even see the high demand for Fiona’s hip bag, which resulted from the character of Fiona on the TV show Burn Notice wearing it stylishly on multiple episodes.

So how can you locate the cool fanny packs?

The problem is that to some extent this is still a gray area due to the fact that different people will have different tastes in what they consider cool or not. In addition to this, there’s also the fact that any cool fanny pack the you pick up still needs to fit in with whatever outfits are going to accessorize it with. If the design completely clashes with the outfit, then it doesn’t matter how cool the designer hip bag looks on its own. Then there is also the question of design.

When it comes to cool fanny packs you might be surprised to learn just how many different styles and designs currently exist. While the Hipzbag hip bag is one of the most popular designs, there are also Victorian fanny packs, which are like traditional fanny packs but with ruffled frills to give a more aristocratic appearance.

You also have frilly fanny packs, which as you can guess is like a purse or fanny pack with large cloth frills covering the accessory. There are even some companies were trying to bring men back into this fashion by offering fanny packs which we worn like a shoulder holster. All of these designs differ greatly from one another and can result in very different looks and feels.

Not every designer fanny pack is going to be appropriate for particular style of clothing some of these work much better as casual wear it as formal wear, all others seem a little bit too fancy for just the old blue jeans and T-shirts routine. Each individual consumer will have to do some homework and see what’s available on the market and figure out which design or designs works best for her.

There is no one design fits every outfit type of setup so your personal taste and the outfits which you want to accessorize are going to play a large part in determining if any of these cool fanny pack ideas is right for you.

Got a backyard pool? Besides the landscape and pool design, what you need next is some cool pool furniture to really determine the look and feel of your yard. You could also get matching outdoor patio furniture or modern outdoor furniture to match if you have a separate deck. Keep in mind that you want to find something durable and weather resistant if you will be leaving it outside year round. Colors and patio lighting are also important and can help bring out the color of the plants and flowers in your the rest of your landscaping.

Don’t you just love vintage furniture? This concept pic just jumped out at me. I love it. When it comes to vintage looks, you could try a unique leather corner sofa, or vintage style bar stools for the kitchen. One thing that a lot of people love doing is refinishing an old table by stripping old paint and then adding custom varnish to match their kitchen. This is a great way to get a new table for your home without spending too much money.
